NHS opening social - the tailgate treat party - Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 (TODAY) at 6:00 p.m. at Payson Park. Treats will be provided, and then go to the football game afterwards. Come and enjoy!

April Service Project

We will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt this year again for the UEI Units at Salem Elementary and Mt Loafer Elementary Schools this year. It will be held on Friday April 2nd during 4th period. You must be attendance eligible to participate so sign up in the Counseling Office. If you would like some more service hours you can donate Easter Candy of plastic Easter eggs for 30 min of service credit.

March General Meeting

Write thank you letters to the teachers for all the work they do for us. Provide Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits the morning of March 17th!

Pearls with a Purpose

We will raise money and needed Educational items for the Pearls with a Purpose cause. The week of February 22-26th.

We were able to raise enough money to donate an additional $120 to Make a Wish Foundation!!

Valentine Service Projects

Decorate the Mt View Hospital with Hearts and Write Valentines for all the Students of Salem Hills High School.

Movie Night

Santa Letters

We will be helping Santa with his list this year. On December 16th after school, under the direction of Santa, we will be writing return letters to local Elementary students. Please plan on attending we will need your help.

Debate Competition at SHHS

We have the opportunity to help at a Debate Tournament hosted at our school. It is on Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st of November. If you can come and donate your time it would be great! You will get service hours for your time. On Friday you can report any where from 3pm until 9pm, and on Saturday you could report as early as 8am. If you would check in at the Library and Mr Welton can tell you what they need help with.

Skyhawk Gorge

On November 9th from 5 to 7 we will have our 2nd Annual Skyhawk Gorge. This is a community event that raises money for the Make a Wish Foundation. We will be serving Snow Cones at our booth. There is a sign up sheet in the counseling office with Mr Lundell. You can sign up to bring a donated item or serve for 30 minutes. It will be a great night of food and fun. Please plan to come and support this great cause.

Salem City Trick or Treat

We will have a booth at the Salem City Trick or Treat in the Park. It will start at 3 and go until 5 or 5:30. If you would like service hours there is a sign up sheet for 30 minute intervals in the counseling office. If you can't attend but would like service hours you can donate a small bag of candy (30 minutes) to be passed out at the Trick or Treat.

Operation Ensuring Christmas 2009

If you would like service hours you can participate in this project. It is a great opportunity to support our troops int the 96th Army Reserve Brigade in Iraq. It is held from 10am to 5pm Saturday October 17th. It will be located at the Payson High School Gym. Free Admission and Special giveaways all day long.

Beehive Home Service Opportunity

The Beehive Home in Salem is in need of volunteers to visit with the residents. Most of the 7 to 11 residents would appreciate sing a longs, piano pieces, dramatic readings, visiting, musical talents of any kind, crafts, pets, games.....anything besides watching TV. The best time to visit is at 1 pm, after lunch or 6 pm, which is after dinner. Please contact Melinda Walters to arrange a day. Her number is 801-423-2783. It is a wonderful opportunity for service.

T Shirt Design

If you would like a T-shirt pay $6 at the finance office and bring your receipt to Mr Lundell in the counseling office with the size written on it. This is what the logo will look like. It will be on a white shirt.

Club Day September 24th

We will be picking up trash at the school for September's club day. The current plan is to clean up the parking lot but we will be directed by the Mr Bellows to the best place.

Friday's Kids

Here is a great service opportunity!

Friday's Kids is an organization that provides respite care for kids with disabilities at Kids Who Count here in Salem. They need volunteers on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month to be at Kids Who Count to play with the children while their parents take a break. You would volunteer for about 3 to 3.5 hours. Opening Social Change of Time

We have changed the time for the Opening Social to 5:30 pm. Plan on arriving at 5:30 for refreshments and then we will have an induction ceremony. Just a friendly reminder to pay your dues by September 25th and save $5.

Dues

Dues to belong to the National Honor Society this year will be reduce to $10 if you pay by September 25th. After September 25th they will go back to the original price of $15.

We will also be ordering T-shirts this year so keep listening for announcements on a price.

We will have our OPENING SOCIAL on Friday September 25th at 5pm. It will be at Salem Pond, we will have our Induction Ceremony as well as refreshments. You can then attend the Football game.

Officers are meeting on August 12th to start planning for the coming school year. We will be holding our General Meetings the first Tuesday of every month during lunch. Officers will be meeting every Tuesday during lunch.
